Samantha J, the new Jamaican teen-sensation is perfectly printed on the Manhattan venues bill. A phone call and a couple handshakes later… she’s walking through in her short-shorts and gladiators. The preceding reggae acts were several years her senior and Samantha J stands in front of everyone like she has a point to prove. Immediately asking the “hot gyals,” to identify themselves, her dominant accent comes out her tiny frame. Samantha J is on stage full of confidence. Her big-bright eyes light up as soon as she grabs her mic. Her music drops when she’s aware the crowd is involved. Meticulous. That’s impressive. She has that whole ” I know I’m a star” thing going for her. “Tight Skirt” is doing amazing numbers abroad with over 2 million You Tube impressions. The song samples reggae classic “Tight Up Skirt” by Red Rat. Her version appeared fun and colorful on screen but is more bold in person. Samantha J is on stage dropping low on stage like she wants to break free of that school girl image. Unexpectedly, Red Rat joins her from stage right and the audience is jumping around. No one expected that. They interact well together and put on quite a show. As soon as the song ends, she chucks her deuces and is out.
