Compound Entertainment: Sonna Rele Bianca Alysse January 25, 2013 Arts & Entertainment, CREATIVELY DRIVEN 3 Comments Hailing from London, Sonna Rele is a gifted singer-songwriter and musician. With her parents and brother as professional musicians in India, it is no surprise she signed her first music deal by the tender age of 16. Rele’s eclectic sound has been shaped by music moguls such as Wyclef Jean, Dallas Austin, Maxi Priest and Lauryn Hill, to name a few. Her first tour was alongside pop sensation Joss Stone, where she was able to display her raw-talent. Not having a budget for her own band, Rele sang and played her music solo in front of an audience of thousands. Her dedication to her craft is undeniable and has been influenced by artists such as Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, the Beatles, Stevie Wonder and Elton John. Her soulful sound has evolved in spite of her previous industry obstacles. Rele has been referred to as “the Asian Alicia Keys,” by different publications, something she considers an honor. She has also showcased unplugged on MTV India’s: The Roots and her single “Brand New Day” was popular overseas. Rele looks forward to displaying her talent in the U.S. under musical genius Ne-Yo’s new management Compound Entertainment. Her image and sound are unlike anything Americans have seen before and Rele is headed to make a huge impression on the industry!
