“Born performer, it is where I feel most comfortable,” said southern soul songstress Lola Simone of her passion for the stage. It is difficult to believe a woman that used to be homeless while in pursuit of her dream is so upbeat and radiant. Simone has dazzled diverse crowds. She recently opened for Jon B. in New York City, as well as, R&B soul eccentric Dave Hollister. Her voice is as enchanting as her name.  She explained her humble beginnings singing at her father’s church for the congregation. “I always knew music was my dream. My perseverance has enabled me to sing professionally for 11 years.”

Simone is an alumna of Clark Atlanta University where she majored in Theatre and minored in Classical Vocal Performance. It was at Clark Atlanta University that she truly bespoke her potential and enhanced her craft. Starring in several independent plays Simone fashioned her expression, stage presence and animated nature. Her charismatic 3 octave range makes many mainstream artist sound mediocre.  “I want people to know I never stop. I’m consistent because you have to believe in yourself. Everyone has an opinion and they are entitled to. What others think does not matter. Seeking approval won’t get you anywhere,” said Simone. You can catch her performing at Club Drom in Manhattan on January 29th and it will surely be a spectacle of grace.
